Kiwanis of Danvers MA

Our Club History

The Kiwanis Club of Danvers is a community service group made up of local men and women who volunteer to help meet the needs of those less fortunate, especially children, here in Danvers, and throughout the world.

Kiwanians come from all walks of life and from all rungs of the career ladder. They are unified in their belief that children, and their community, benefit from the efforts of a proficient group of caring and committed volunteers.

Our club has been incorporated since 1961, and since then we have donated over $450,000 to the Danvers community. As a service organization, we perform 4 main functions: Fellowship, Community Service, Fundraising, and Providing Scholarships. With over 70 members, we meet weekly for lunch and an update on activities that we can participate in to serve the community.

Additionally, the club provides 8 to 10 social events for our members and their families; we also socialize with the other service clubs, as well as with the other members of our larger Kiwanis family through 6 Regional, District or International meeting opportunities each year.

We have five major service projects each year:

  • Pancake Festival raises money so we can make contributions to a variety of local Danvers programs Our general criteria for these donations are:

    • Children: We look for organizations that help to develop / enhance children's abilities to learn, and grow up to be better adults

    • We look to make donations that have a greater impact on the organization

    • We support local - Danvers based organizations

    • Our donations are for Cultural, Human Services, Capital Campaigns, and On-going / Annual Sponsorships

  • Through events like our Annual Rubber Duck Race, we raise funds to increase our endowments in our Foundation account, so that we can continue to provide scholarships to High School Seniors as they go on to higher education.

  • Car Seat Safety Check held during family festival

  • Bike Safety Rodeo held during family festival

  • Rail Trail Cleanup service day held in April/May

The Danvers Kiwanis club has a proud history of service to the community; whether we are racing ducks, flipping flapjacks, or donating money to fight Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT), we always manage to have a good time while we strive to serve those who need our assistance.

Danvers is a great town, and together, we will continue to make an impact for the betterment of the community, it citizens, and ourselves. As our club grows, so do we, and so does our ability to serve our community.

We meet every 1st & 3rd Tuesday for lunch at the Danversport Yacht Club at 12:00.
